Want a great family vacation that makes everyone from the kids to the grandparents happy? It’s time to look at cruising. It’s simply the best vacation value around and cruise lines know that parents need a break and the kids need to be occupied.

You may be familiar with many of the cruise offerings for adults, thanks to all those cruise line commercials like rock climbing, surfing, zip lining and more! But maybe you are looking for a few hours just to relax, get a massage or take a spin class. While you do that, your children will be in the care of trained professionals with learning and enrichment activities galore. You can chill at the pool while your kids are enjoying the water slides and other great activities, and the best part is there is no extra charge for the fun. All day dining and most activities on-board are included.

There are programs for kids of all ages. The choice of activities is different on each cruise line, but here are some examples available for the kids:

  • Toddlers (ages 2-5) – splash pools, cartoon time, toys, indoor beach parties, arts and crafts, face painting and counting games
  • Juniors (ages 6-8) – talent shows, cartoon time, sea animals, trivia, ice cream sundaes, cookie decorating, puppet shows, outdoor fun and games
  • Intermediate (ages 9-12) – t-shirt painting, photography, jewelry making, dance classes, video game tournaments, ping-pong, talent shows, volleyball and scavenger hunts
  • Teens (ages 13-15) – ping-pong, pool parties, skin care and hairdressing demonstrations and dance classes. On certain Paul Gauguin cruises they offer an “Ambassadors of the Environment Family Program” created under the auspices of the Cousteau Society.

Grandparents, parents and children all have a wide array of things to do designed just for them, and the family decides how much time they spend together. You can really tailor your vacation time just the way you want, so everyone gets just the vacation they want. Cruising is not just for adults anymore – it’s THE vacation where everyone gets to have fun.
